Our products are built to last, but a bit of TLC doesn't hurt. Here are some quick tips on how to get the most out of your umbrella:
Cork
Cork is naturally water-resistant and mold-resistant, so it's perfect for umbrellas. Your handle will weather and patina over time from the oils in your skin, but it's also a good idea to keep it somewhat clean and let it dry out between uses. Believe it or not, a Mr. Clean magic eraser will clean off any unwanted grime and make your handle look like new. You can also use a sealant such as U-40, although we don't recommend doing so. We just don't like what it does to the natural look and feel of the cork.
Water
Umbrellas are made to get wet. But letting them dry before wrapping them up for the night is a good practice. We give them a quick shake and leave them open to dry before putting them to bed. Oh, and opening our umbrellas indoors is good luck.
Canopy
If you make a mess or are the unsuspecting victim of a pigeon, you can spot clean the canopy by adding a drop of laundry detergent to a cup of water and gently scrubbing the spot with a sponge.
