A Certain Something About Paris

By day, Les Papilles is a épicerie (grocery store) and top-notch wine shop. By night, it’s one of the best meals you’ll ever eat. We’re not kidding.

Situated a stone’s throw from Jardin du Luxembourg, this homey spot for market-fresh cooking and exceptional wine is the idyllic scene for a cool Parisian night. Bertrand Bluy wears many hats - owner, waiter, maître d - and his chef barely fits in the kitchen. There are no menus and no fuss, just a fixed price for four courses. We still think about the pumpkin soup and perfectly toasted crouton, slow braised lamb shoulder with vegetables, a blue cheese course with fig compote, and mango panna cotta. A Michelin-star worthy restaurant without the Michelin-star crowds or pretense. C’est parfait. Pro tip: Make a reservation.

Paris just always sounds like a great idea.
